Clack Downflow Stage Programming

Here's how to program or check the stage programming on a Clack WS1 Downflow control valve. This is the control valve used for the Aquatell Wellmster, Tannin Systems, and other Aquatell water treatment systems that have a regenerant feed.


To access the stage programming menu press and hold the NEXT and DOWN buttons for 5 seconds, then release:

  • Use the arrow buttons to set softening then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set dn then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to PosT then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the 1-backwash to 10 then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the 2-brine to 60 then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the 3-backwash to 5 then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the 4- rinse to 8 then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the 5-fill to the following value:
    • for the Wellmaster Softener use 9.5 lbs, then press NEXT
    • for the Clack WS1 Softener
      • 1.0 cubic foot unit use 9.5 lbs, then press NEXT
      • 1.5 cubic foot unit use 14 lbs, then press NEXT
      • 2.0 cubic foot unit use 19 lbs, then press NEXT
      • 2.5 cubic foot unit use 24 lbs, then press NEXT
      • 3.0 cubic foot unit use 29 lbs, then press NEXT
    • for an Aquatell Tannin system use 12 lbs, then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the capacity as follows:
    • Wellmaster Softener = 24.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
    • Clack WS1 Softener:
      • 1.0 cubic foot unit = 24.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
      • 1.5 cubic foot unit = 36.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
      • 2.0 cubic foot unit = 48.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
      • 2.5 cubic foot unit = 60.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
      • 3.0 cubic foot unit = 72.0 x 1000, then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set the REGEN to the following value:
    • for the Wellmaster Softener set to AUTo, then press NEXT
    • for the Clack WS1 Softener set to AUTo, then press NEXT
    • for an Aquatell Tannin system set to oFF, then press NEXT
  • Use the arrow buttons to set Normal then press NEXT (will not appear for Wellmaster Softener)
  • Use the arrow buttons to set rELAY to oFF, then press NEXT
