How To Depressurize a Clack-Based System
Before you work on a water softener or backwashing filter, it needs to be depressurized. This article described how to depressurize a system that uses a Clack control valve.
- Make sure the system is in bypass mode
- Force the system into a backwash or regeneration cycle
- For softeners, do this by pressing and holding the REGEN button until the motor engages, then release
- For systems without a REGEN button, press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons until the motor engages, then release
- Step the system through the stages of a backwash or regeneration
- For softeners, press the REGEN button at each stage to advance to the next stage
- For systems without a REGEN button, press the DOWN button at each stage to advance to the next stage
- When you see the clock, the backwash or regeneration cycle is complete, and the system will be depressurized.
